A large majority of air conditioning faults and breakdowns occur as a direct result of a lack of air conditioning maintenance and could be easily avoided with planned regular preventative maintenance and servicing. LF Air Conditioning Refrigeration believe that regular maintenance is imperative to prevent dirt getting into the system, causing rust and damage over time; and to find and correct minor faults before they become a bigger problem.

Although planned maintenance and servicing of air conditioning systems is not a statutory requirement, it is, however, a requirement that any systems with more than 3kg of refrigerant gas are inspected and certified every 12 months. This requirement is more frequent for larger systems (The F Gas Regulations, 2006). Also, in 2007, the Energy Performance of Building Regulations made it a legal obligation for operators of air conditioning systems to undergo an inspection looking at the design, installation, and operation of systems every 5 years and this must be carried out by an approved inspector.
